Sleeping Bear Dunes Area Real Estate Listings

Choosing to purchase a new house or land is an exciting life decision that requires some initial considerations to ensure you find the perfect Property.

Before browsing listings, reflect on the following questions:

Are you considering waterfront, waterviews or near access? How close do you want to be to the National Lakeshore, Sleeping Bear Dunes?  How important is it for you to be near the park to take advantage of such amenities as hunting, fishing, snow shoeing, canoeing, boating, or hiking?  Do you want to be close to Lake Michigan for long walks on the beach?

In regards to inland lakes how big of a lake do you want access to? Which Lake? Lakes vary in size from 20A to 9,000 A and that doesn't include Lake Michigan or the Bays.  The question to ask yourself is what do you want to do on the water?  Do you want an all sports lake that allows for motor boats, water skiing, or jet skiing?  Would you prefer a quiet lake for kayaking, fishing, watching the natual wildlife and no motor boats?  I'm sure you know that some lakes are more expensive then others. You just may be looking for a boat slip and want to live on your boat!

Would you prefer to live near or in a village where you can walk to shops and restaurants? Or maybe you prefer being closer to the Hub, Traverse City.  Hospitals, Malls, and Entertainment might be a concern as far as distance to and from. You just may want property out in the middle of nowwhere or at least feel like it!  How about being near a ski resort for all those amenities?  There is alot to consider isn't there.

How large does the house/condo have to be for my family to be comfortable?
How many rooms and bathrooms are required?
What size of yard will accommodate children and pets?  May be you need a barn for the horses you ride!
What are my current parking and transportation needs?

How about main floor living?  Those darn steps anyway!  It's all about priorities isn't it.  Everyone is different so think about what you really need and want and make sure you tell Me!  You have heard this before!  "Help me Help you!"

How important is having a house close to work, local amenities, public transportation?
In which areas of the city would you like to live?   Are there areas that you want to avoid?
Are you willing to purchase a home that is involved with a Home Owner’s Association?
Are there special considerations required for hobbies, guests, potential additions to the family, physical limitations or disabilities?

The answers to these questions will help you not only determine the type of house that will be the best for you, but also save you time from viewing houses that don’t meet your personal criteria.
